As educators, you understand primary school students benefit from developing and exploring fundamental movement skills and expanding their physical literacy. We believe that this focus supports whole-of-child development and movement for life. Taekwondo is uniquely positioned to deliver on these benefits through the Taekwondo Kickstarters program which focuses on:
Teaching introductory taekwondo techniques and learning about the martial art.
Promoting curriculum-aligned activities that are inclusive and ensures students are physically active.

What skills will students learn?
Aside from all the program benefits outlined above, students will also learn key fundamental movement skills to aide in their physical development. These fundamental movement skills have a specific focus to encourage age appropriate learning that is aligned to the Australian Curriciulum. This is outlined below.
Year 1 & 2
Perform basic skills and sequences. For example, perform the execution of one skill such as a side kick then progress this to performing two skills consecutively such as a front punch into a side kick.
Year 3 & 4
Refine fundamental movement skills as well as movement concepts and strategies. This would include carrying a basic pattern or punching and blocking sequence combination combined with the ability to articulate what they are doing.
Year 5 & 6
Students in this group are expected to perform specialized movement skills and propose and combine movement strategies. Students should aim to carry complex movement sequences.
